Moderate multipitch around Seiser Alm?

Messaggioda Ola.B » mar ago 20, 2013 9:28 am

Hi everyone,

A job related trip puts me in Seiser Alm for a couple of days at the end of august.

I haven't had much luck finding any climbing near Seiser Alm, but I think that is because of my poor knowledge of the Dolomites and Italian regions and names..

Can anyone help me out..
Do you have a tip for a not too long multipitch graded upto french 6a / UIAA VI/VI+ close to Seiser Alm

Ehy There...
of course you can climb there ;-)
names are either in german or italian as the area is on the border.
if you google anything there you need to put in "klettern" as climbing combined with the german name of the area or "arrampicare" with the italian counterpart...and so on

The Schlern (in german) Sciliar (italian) range is a very nice area in summer and winter...

here some informations and Routes:

the Santnerbauch (VI) is a nic route

my suggestion there is to climb way below the limit....rock is not perfect and protection might be marginal as much as it appears marginal....

This ain`t Yosemite ...if you know what i mean ;-)

Thank you for the tips..

Just after I posted yesterday I found a couple of links..

I liked the look of Steger on Punta Emma.. http://www.summitpost.org/view_object.p ... _id=725594

5.8 YDS is definately within the comfort zone..

Now I just have to hope that someone in my travel group actually know how to climb :)

I'm staying in Compatsch, if you have any suggestions to nearby routes..

The Steger route on Punta Emma is nice indeed and it sports pretty solid rock, but it's quite far from Compatsch.
I'm not sure how long the hike-in from Compatsch is, but for sure I will not take such route for a 1-day outing from there.
You better look for some routes on Sassopiatto (aka Plattkofel in German).
Unfortunately I can't help you on such massif, as I'm not very familiar with it.
